Are you ready to dress up your baby? If you are like many parents, you love the many ways you can dress your child up and you love doing it. It does not have to be a special occasion to do it, either. For those parents that want to follow the trends, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Trends Infants and Toddlers Love

What are the latest trends for young ones in clothing? You can find many things you can do to dress them up with great colors and styles, including many name brands. You do not have to spend a lot, either.

Do think green clothing. Environmentally friendly is important. The only thing more important is ensuring your child’s clothing is safe for his or her skin.

Going over the top is not hard either. With many bright colors and patterns being a big trend this year, many children are looking glamorous and stylish. Make color trends a part of your baby’s wardrobe.

Make those special occasions really special. Find baby costumes that bring out the thrill of being a child, including fun themes, cartoons and even animal costumes. Be creative.

On the other hand, keeping it simple is also an important style trend for babies and toddlers. Functional clothing for kids is better than clothing that’s not comfortable.

Do accessorize. Even young ones need great shoes and hats.

The latest fashion trends for your toddler and infants are all too easy to enjoy as an adult. Who doesn’t love dressing up their baby in something that is sure to get the attention of others?

From age infant to toddler it seems there is instant pressure to have kids start their lives in great outfits. Friends will then fashion your toddler with name brand clothes and you inevitably feel a responsibility to keep her wardrobe up to code with the best. Rather than forking over a fortune to buy the best and latest name brand clothes, try these simple solutions to sharper clothes buying.

First of all, don’t be shy about buying used clothes. Often times, kids have so many clothes received from friends and family eager to buy something for your child that they hardly wear the outfits. Instead of picturing a worn down pair of pants your child wanted to wear all the time, think of the clothes your child barely wears and are in almost new condition. You can find clothes just like this that fit your child at Goodwill or other outlet stores. Another great source for used clothing is eBay. The site allows you to buy clothes only from people with a large number of transactions and high approval rate. This ensures you will be receiving clothes in the condition advertised.

A great place to go for new clothes that are name brand is mall department stores. This doesn’t sound like the greatest play to go at first, but if you shop only at the clearance rack, you would be amazed at the deals found on name brand clothing. In order to make room for new inventory, old outfits are often discounted 70 or 80% in order move out quickly. This translates to exception savings for those who venture to the clearance racks.

Celebrities have always dictated the fashion of teenagers, and often adults, but now the latest rad styles are making their way to the crib. The babies are not just wearing the clothes celebrities’ babies are wearing – they are wearing the clothes celebrities are wearing. The latest fashion trend for infants and toddlers is hip hop clothing. Aside from being fashionable, there are some good things about urban clothing for little ones.

Urban wear is heavy on comfort. The clothes are not sexy, a huge criticism of many styles creeping their way into more innocent generations. Hip hop clothes depend on baggy sweat pants and soft denim that are suitable and age appropriate. Hats are warm and protect little heads from the wind as well as the harmful rays of the sun.

Hip hop clothing lines for infants and toddlers were first introduced by designers like Tommy Hilfiger and Ralf Lauren. Now Phat Farm, a line of urban clothes by rapper Russell Simmons, has developed urban clothing for little tots. Phat Farm Boys and Baby Phat Girls are Phat Farms line for little ones.

Sales for children’s clothing continue to rise, even as the economy is causing a decline in sales for men’s and women’s clothing. According to Anthony Sala, President of Sales for Puma, it is not just the parents buying fashionable duds for the babies. The average child has about 14 adults buying them clothes. Some parenting magazines even offer style guides for the littlest fashion plates.

These clothes are more readily available in larger cities, but there are a few internet sites offering urban clothes for babies and toddlers. Some wholesale sites offer savings off of the rather high prices of designer lines.

Girls like colorful and involving gifts which can perk their curiosity and attract their attention for sustained periods of time. There are several birthday gift ideas to consider for girls.

One of these can be a science or a chemistry set if the child is at least three years old. These kid-oriented and simple experiments can really stimulate the child’s desire for exploration and adventure. Exploration is the key ingredient for a full and wholesome development for the child.

Also, a disassembled version of a house which includes a kitchen, bedroom, and living room can be gifted so that gifts like these can stimulate thinking and their little brain can exercise itself towards mechanical assembly of the house.

Sports-related gifts, such as ski gear, swimming costumes, roller blades, and something as simple as a soccer ball can be a great addition to the young girl’s collection.

The ideas for gifts should emanate from the simple logic that anything that enhances the capabilities of body, mind and spirit is good, whereas anything which harms the child’s development, such as television, video games, and bright computer screens, are toxic to the eyes and should be avoided.

Parents should take great care to make sure that gifts do not contain sharp objects which can cause damage to the vital parts of the body such as eyes and ears. The gifts should be made from natural materials with as much use of wood, ceramic, and metal as possible.

At the rate that babies grow, it can seem as if you are constantly buying or needing to buy new clothes for them. Sure, you can head out to the local baby boutiques and pay full price for the latest baby fashions, but it is going to cost you a fortune, to say the least. There are at least three ways that you can buy the baby clothes you need, but save money in the process.

Shop Online

A website that sells baby clothing and accessories would be a perfect place to look first. Because these online retail stores do not have the same overhead that brick and mortar shops do, you can often find great clothes at greatly reduced prices. Some sites even offer free shipping or deeply discounted shipping, so that you still end up saving money on your purchase. As an added bonus, coupons and special promotions can add to the amount of money you can save on your purchases.

Beg, Borrow, but Don’t Steal

You may know someone in your family, or even some of your friends, that have had children before you. Whether you ask to borrow the clothes or they offer them to you, you’ll often find practically brand new clothes that you can use for free.

Shop Gently Used

Most consignment shops only accept gently used baby clothes. Second hand consignment shops make great places to search for all sorts of baby clothes and accessories. You may even be able to find designer and high-end luxury goods at deep discounts that you may not be able to find in other places.

The baby is on his or her way. There are so many decisions to make. The important decisions, like what doctor to choose or where and what way to have the baby, are made with lots of research and recommendation. Then there are the fun decisions, like what color the baby’s room should be, as well as shopping for furniture and accessories.

In tracking your pregnancy week by week, the time will come to decide if you want to know the sex of your baby. While the element of surprise will possibly be eliminated (the ultrasound has been known to make a mistake or two), it will help in planning for the arrival. Will you buy blue or pink? Will you buy bonnets or baseball hats? Will dad put up a basketball net or build a playhouse? These are some decisions that can be made before the baby arrives, if you know the gender of your new arrival.

Then, let the shopping begin. Retail therapy takes on a whole new meaning when starting from scratch for baby. It is with wanton abandon that you will browse through the cutest section of the store. A blue hat, a pink dress. Make sure to throw a few neutural yellows and greens in there, just in case.

You get to know your baby in a whole new way. The little “we don’t know” becomes “my little man” or “daddy’s princess.” Have fun and dress your baby any way you want. After all, you’re the one who will spend the next 18 years with him or her.

Fashion for pictures is a tricky subject. If you have seen enough family pictures in general, you may have noticed both ends of the spectrum: when a family is mismatched or alternatively a little too alike. Here are some tips to coordinating clothes for family pictures.

Wearing Similar Clothes

Deciding on a level of dressiness could be a great first step. Keeping in mind the location or backdrop of the pictures, you could put a “theme” of sorts. Whether you go with a beach theme or jeans and a nice shirt, deciding on how dressy the family is essential.

Choosing Coordinating Outfits

Once you have decided on these issues, you can choose the exact clothes. Casual mens shirts and those for women could be paired with jeans or a nicer pair of slacks, for instance. Outfits or similar clothes could work for your children, as well.

Coordinating Colors of Clothes

Coordinating colors is perhaps most difficult when it comes to family pictures. Instead of exactly matching everyone in the family (sometimes this carries a bit of a contrived look), perhaps you could go with similar and complementary shades. Two complementary colors would be a good look, and you could choose clothes that go around this theme.

These items can be of help when you choose how to dress for family pictures. Knowing your environment will allow you to best choose clothes, and perhaps you can search for family pictures to get some ideas. In addition, you may be able to change clothes during the session, giving you more possibilities if something doesn’t work out as planned such as one set of casual clothes and one dressy.

Your daughter may become very interested in fashion at an early age. Even children around preschool age can become infatuated with costumes, dressing up, and dolls. Perhaps throughout the years you’ve noticed this, which provides an excellent opportunity for your child with what is available today.

Currently it is possible to blend fashion for both your daughter and her favorite doll(s). One definite example of this is with the American girl doll clothes that are available, which allows your daughter to dress just like her doll. It is certainly an exciting opportunity, allowing for a great deal of customization.

Look at the offerings that are available. You might find a wide variety of clothes, such as those that can be worn in all seasons. It can make for a great deal of fun on show and tell day or perhaps for a sleepover for your daughter and her friends. As you might be aware, it will take a lot for your daughter to get tired of these aspects of fashion – if that is possible.

You might want to show your daughter some of the possibilities for her and her doll. Or perhaps, you could surprise her with a number of outfits. It would, after all, be an amazing gift for any type of holiday.

Fashions that are available for your daughter and her doll can be a wonderful gift for her. It can certainly allow her to explore the world of fashion, dressing up, and give her something that she could possibly share with her friends.

When you have a small child, you’re probably worrying less about fashion and more about keeping him or her in clothing that fits, clothing that isn’t stained, and so on. Still, you probably concern yourself with keeping your kids in cute clothing, and so fashion considerations do come into play.

Fashion Considerations for Infants and Toddlers

The clothing that you choose should absolutely be cute, and even trendy now that so many top name brands are coming out with cute name-brand clothing for younger and younger audiences. You also are going to want to choose comfortable clothing, since many young children like to tear their clothing off when they are uncomfortable. Avoid itchy fabrics, zippers, buttons and other elements that may irritate your young child. Choose soft fabrics, fuzzy fabrics, courderoy and similar materials that they can sleep and play comfortably in.

Make sure that you buy the right sizes for your children, and keep in mind that they grow quickly during their early years. It’s okay to buy your clothing a little big so that your son or daughter can grow into them, but keep in mind that some clothing will not work well in too large a size, such as pants for a shorter child. You want to make sure that the clothing you buy is safe for your children, because clothing needs to be safe and comfortable in order for your child to be in good shape.

Make sure that you think about comfort, size and safety with all of the clothing that you buy for your child.

Do you have any friends who seem to never throw anything away? Those pals of yours may get lucky when it comes to fashion. Everything that goes out in style eventually comes back. Here are some older items that are back in style for 2011.

70s Tunics

Tunics are hot again. These over sized blouses that are too long to be a regular shirt, but too short to short to be a dress will be seen all over this spring. Pair these cute tops with leggings. You can wear both heels and flats with this look. Both solid tunics and sheer tunics that require a tank top to be worn underneath will be seen this spring.

Denim Shirts

The denim shirt is another popular 70s trend that has made a major comeback. The Western look is popular even today, complete with cowboy boots, tartan or plaid shirts, and yes denim shirts (not all at once, please). Both men and women can wear this trend. There are denim mens shirts that men wear with blue jeans or khakis. Women wear denim shirts with any type of shorts or even a maxi skirt.

Bell bottoms

They rocked the 70s, they graced the mid-90s and now they are back again. Don’t be surprised when your teen daughter wants to trade in her skinny jeans for a pair of bell bottoms. Make sure that your teen tries on her bell bottoms with the correct shoes so that she does not slip on the flaring bottom of the pants.

The Annie Hall Look

If you ever laughed at Diane Keaton for wearing a man’s blazer, you will be laughing last. Come this fall, stylish girls will be taking on khakis and over-sized men’s like blazers. Some people will modernize this look by wearing the blazer with jeans instead of khakis. You may seem some ties floating around as well, but that item will probably be reserved for the bravest fashionistas.

Finding the best clothes for your toddler can feel like an exercise in futility. You may have a child that is extremely picky and only wants to wear one or two articles of clothing — ever. This can be very frustrating for you, as the parent. On the other hand, you may have a child who doesn’t want to wear anything. Finding the best balance, and the best clothes, is important.

First, the best type of clothes to dress your toddler in are clothes that are fairly easy to get into and out of. This is not only for them, but for you, as well. Toddlers get messy, and if you have to spend ten minutes getting them out of their clothes, you will most likely get frustrated long before you get them bathed or into a new outfit.

If your child is potty training, he or she will also need to be able to get out of clothes easily to get to the potty on time; otherwise you may end up pulling out the Reach Prepaid Visa Card to get a new outfit!

Choosing things like color and style is a very personal choice. This is something that will vary from parent to parent, and even child to child. Some parents choose not to have their children wear any items with cartoon characters, for example. Others like to stick to a specific color scheme. If you have preferences like these, don’t let others dissuade you. Dress your children in the styles that you choose. You are their parent after all.

Teens love clothes and the best way that they can show off their unique styles and looks is through a runway fashion show. There are some things that you should remember if you want to have a fashion show. The tips that are listed below are going to help you make the best runway fashion show possible.

Find a Place – The first thing that you will need to do is find a place to have the show. It needs to be large enough so that there is room for the runway and the seats.

Set the Stage – The second thing that you have to do is set the stage. You can either rent a stage to use or you can build one. If you don’t want to go to that expense, you can use wooden boards that are nailed into the floor or the ground to create a runway that’s invisible. You want to make sure your stage matches the looks like styling women’s or mens shirts.

Pick the Music – The third thing that you want to do is choose the right kind of music. It should be upbeat and exciting, but not so loud that the announcements can’t be heard over the music. Remember to have a microphone for the master of ceremonies.

Runway fashion shows are a great way to show off the new looks for teens including junior fashions, dresses, and even men’s shirts. You can find more tips on hosting a teen fashion show on the Internet. No matter what time of the year it is, a fashion show is a great idea for getting teens excited about the new clothes and looks that are coming out.

Everyone likes to look and feel good in their clothes these days. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t care about fashion or about what they’re wearing. Many plan outfits each day, especially teens, to dress like their role models. With the economy still on the downturn, many of us have had to cut back on what we spend to keep ourselves looking and feeling good fashion-wise.

There are plenty of brands that will keep you looking and feeling good without breaking your bank account. LRG clothes are a great way to stay fashionable without spending a lot. From boys to men, you’ll likely find something within your price range, as well as that fits your fashion taste. From T-shirts and hoodies to button-downs, sweaters and outerwear, there is something for just about everybody.

We all know, regardless of your location, that keeping our kids warm during the cooler months of the year is very important. LRG clothes offer a wide variety of hooded sweatshirts, track jackets, long-sleeved shirts, and windbreakers at great prices. The designs also vary, making this brand popular among the younger crowds because there’s something for everyone’s fashion sense. Because some people are allergic to certain fabrics, it is always a good idea to check the fabric before purchasing anything, but LRG uses cotton in nearly all of their clothing.

You don’t have to break the bank to make yourself or your children feel good — you just have to know where to look. You should have no problem finding great looks for great prices.

If you are looking for ways to appear more stylish in the summer season, check out these tips. A little time and effort can have you making a splash at parties this summer.

Paint is a Do

NEVER leave the house in open toed shoes with out your toes polished. This is a number one fashion rule. Even if you are not a big fan of pedicures or wild colors, at the very least put on some clear or tan polish and have your toes cut to a short length. If you’re getting a professional pedicure, French tip or neon pink are two great summer options.

Handbags

Carry a bold and bright handbag. If you are wearing an neutral outfit spice up your look with a hot pink, yellow or vibrant green bag. You will get plenty of compliments of this major fashion do. Handbags and shoes don’t have to match exactly as they did in decades past don’t be afraid to get creative.

Wearing White Bottoms is Not For Everyone

White bottoms can be tricky. They are not the most slimming and very easy to get dirty. There are some women who can pull off a tiny pair of white shorts, but most people should stick with a slightly darker colored skirt or shorts and accent it with a white tank top or white accessories. Navy blue goes great with white.

Big Shades

Nothing is less attractive then squinting because of the sun. Make sure to always keep a pair of big shades handy. Think of Audrey Hepburn when picking out your glasses. Black and tortoise shell shades never go out of style. Sometimes it is better to invest in one slightly more expensive pair of sunglasses that will last for years and that you can keep in a case instead of buying a bunch of $5 glasses that you throw around and just end up sitting on.

It is important for your children to stay warm in the winter, but doing this can be a difficult task. Many children fight their parents when it comes to wearing coats, scarves and other cold weather gear. Here are some tips on how to find fashionable winter clothes that your children will want to wear.

Animal Hats

If your young child is always pulling off his regular winter hat, try purchasing an animal hat instead. Animal hats are more fun and some even contain ears so the child will almost feel like they are getting the privilege or wearing a costume. If you have a young daughter concerned that a hat will mess up her hair, they also sell ear muffs in fun animal prints like leopard and zebra.

Little Boots

Lots of little girls love the Ugg style boots which also happen to be very warm. If the Ugg brand boots are not in your budget, there are plenty of other similar boots at lower prices at affordable stores such as Target. A young child will not know the difference if their boots are name brand or not. Allow your daughter to pick out her own boot color and she will be excited to wear her new footwear every time she leaves the house.

Copy a Favorite TV Star

If your child has a favorite TV star, try buying your kid a similar looking jacket or gloves to something that he or she has seen on a favorite show. When your child screams “but I don’t want to wear it”, you can remind them how cool it is to look like their favorite actor or actress.

It can be expensive to cloth your baby. Babies are constantly growing and changing, causing them to need bigger clothing more often than an older child. If you are having trouble affording baby clothes, there are a few thrifty ways that you can cloth your child.

Have a Clothing Swap Party

Invite a few local mothers over for drinks and snacks. Invite women that each have small kids of a few various ages. Everyone can bring clothes that no longer fit their own children, but may fit another baby. This is a great way to get the most out of clothing.

Thrift Store

Shop at the Goodwill or another thrift store. Used clothing is much cheaper than new clothing. Don’t worry about any stigmas that may go along with shopping at a second hand store. Many of the clothes there are almost as good as new. Wash the clothing before putting it on your baby and no one will even realize that your child is wearing second hand clothes.

Shop Online

You can friend great deals online at eBay and other auction sites. You are not the only mother who has no idea what to do with the clothing that your baby has outgrown. Check eBay often for the best sales. Many items have both a buy it now price and a bidding price. Use the buy it now price if you see an item that you really want. Use the bidding price if your goal is to pay the lowest amount possible.

Kids fashion has come a long way since the days of high top sneakers and purple overalls. Modern kids are very fashion conscience and tend to want to wear mini versions of adult clothing. If you have a child who is into fashion, it is important to keep up with the latest trends.

Tunics

Remember that tunic that you wore in the 70s? Your child wants to wear it now. Little girls will be sporting colorful and patterned tunics. Pair this blouse with leggings or tights to keep your child warm. Add a cute backpack and your little girl will be ready to go.

Girly Girl is In

If your daughter loves pink, bows, flowers and frills then your little girl will be in heaven. Shops will be showing feminine and elegant children’s dresses. Allow your little girl to go glam with headbands, sparkles and other cute accessories.

A Tie For Your Little Man

Although small boys usually wear bow ties, more and more fashion designers will be showing neckties for kids. Dress your son up like a little business man for the next family function. Keep his look young and cute by purchasing a tie with a cartoon character printed on it or bright colors.

Suspenders are No Longer for Geeks

Suspenders are back in a big way for both boys and girls. Suspenders are being made in more bold colors and should be paired with crazy pieces. A floral skirt, pink suspenders, a frilly blouse and patent shoes can make your little girl look adorable. Allow your son to pair his suspenders with stylish jeans and a funky hat.

Hair

Don’t forget that hair can make an outfit. Boys are going for the spiked look with a little hair gel. Girls are leaving their hair natural and wavy as opposed to straightening it. Add bows or headbands for added flair.

Remember the days when your parents dressed you and your siblings up in those horrible outfits for that special occasion? You may even remember the itchy feel of the fabric, or the terrible colors. Even though you may think a certain outfit makes your baby look like the cutest pea in the pod, you might be committing a toddler fashion faux paux. Follow these simple guidelines for toddler fashion, and your toddler’s fashion wardrobe will probably be just fine.

Sailor Outfits

Sailor outfits are perhaps the number one most embarrassing things for a child to wear. If you are dressing up your little captain in a sailor outfit, make sure it is comfortable, fits well, and is worn on only very special occasions. Perhaps ask another mom or friend for their opinion. Does he fuss more than normal when he wears it? Is the outfit too outlandish? Will he be embarrassed to see pictures of the outfit years from now? There are several sailor-inspired outfits available at baby clothing stores, so perhaps only a few items that are sailor-inspired would be better than a complete sailor get-up.

Homemade Floral Dresses

If you are not an expert seamstress, or if the kids have grown since the last time they wore the outfit, it may be uncomfortable for them. Make sure to ask them if there are any tight seams or itchy parts to the dress. And if you are going to make floral dresses, have the kids help out the print.

The Disney Princess

Some little ones may insist on only dressing as Cinderella, or whoever the latest animated character is. While magic wands and pink tutus may be all the rage for a two year old, just hope that it is a phase and try to tone it down when out in public. Give her choices of a few outfits with more subtle prints and fabrics, and try to keep the glitter and glitz to a minimum. She will thank you later.

The dilemma between zippers and buttons for toddler fashion is an important one. It shows that parents really do care about their children’s wardrobe, not only for fashion reasons, but for safety, comfort, ease, and a host of other reasons – right down to the last button. Most infant and toddler fashion today favors buttons over zippers, but that does not mean that zippers are completely out of the question. The question really comes down to how selective a parent wants to be when choosing toddler fashion.

Buttons have the advantage of being the safer of the two clothing fasteners. There are actually several different types of buttons besides the classic sewn button that slips through a hole in the fabric and holds it in place. There are buttons that snap into place, and fasteners like those on overalls. All of these fasteners pose little to no threat to a child’s safety. A metal zipper, however, can get stuck on a number of things.

It is also easier to repair or replace buttons than it is to repair or replace zippers. Even if you cannot locate the original buttons or ones that look similar, you can mix and match buttons with great effect. Children’s clothing can be eclectic and unusual, and sometimes mismatching buttons would turn that otherwise bland little cardigan into something really fun and distinctive.

One tip for button-friendly seamstresses is to keep all the buttons that come with new clothes in a “button jar” or box. Whenever you buy a new item, often it will come with an extra button or two on the tag or attached to the inside of the clothing itself. Take these off and store them in a safe place, so that whenever a button is needed, you know right where to find one. You can also search for buttons online, at garage sales, antique malls, sewing and crafts shops. Or, you can take a boring old button and add a charm, sticker, or small knickknack to it with a hot glue gun. Get creative!

A toddler is adorable by default, but a little fashion never hurt. Have fun showing off your little tyke with some of these essential baby fashion items. The best part about toddler fashion is that it does not have to be expensive. If you stock your child’s wardrobe with just a few quality clothing items, you can build several adorable outfits that will win you and your little one lots of compliments, oohs, and ahhhs.

Boys Toddler Fashion

He will be sure to charm the ladies with a pair of overalls, whether in classic denim or cuddly corduroy. You cannot go wrong with overalls, which are easy to put on and take off, comfortable, and easy for the little one to run around in. Try a long-sleeve thermal or Henley underneath for a grown-up look.

Run with the denim theme and make sure your fashionable baby boy has a denim jacket. They’re durable and can be worn with just about anything. Add a microfiber or fleece vest underneath to keep him nice and warm. Try a pair of cowboy boots or rain boots to complete the look.

For the basics, stick with solids, stripes, and plaids. They are easier to mix and match, and never go out of style. Brighten up his wardrobe with a sprinkling of fun graphics, cartoon characters, animal prints, or bright colors.

Girls Toddler Fashion

For the little girl who only wants clothing that sparkles, glitters, shimmers, or shines with fairy dust, there are plenty of cute and stylish outfits that don’t necessarily scream Disney Princess. Start with solids, floral prints, and subtle patterns. Mix and match solid colored leggings with floral or print skirts and dresses. Add on a solid or polka dot cardigan for extra flair.

The little girl who loves to accessorize should have a few choices for how to complete her look. Consider different types of shoes, hats, hair pins, mittens, and scarves. For shoes, try canvas slip-ons: they are fashionable, are shoelace-less, and are easy to get on and off.

One of the challenges for the cost-conscious parent is resisting the desire to splurge on her little one. The good news is that buying cute and fashionable baby clothes does not have to break the bank. Thanks to online shopping and consignment stores, parents can dress their little ones in style for an affordable amount. Check out these insider’s tips for dressing up baby on a shoestring.

Ebay for Baby

Ebay has just about everything – from vintage vinyl records to car parts to baby clothes. The popular online auction site has been a staple in many online shoppers’ lifestyles for many years. But there are still many people who have not used the site, or the many similar sites online. Although online shopping is growing exponentially, it is still a small percentage of the total retail volume in the US. Part of the reason is that many people do not think to go online and shop for hard-to-find items. They prefer to go to the stores they’ve always gone to. But online shopping at sites like Ebay can help you sniff out great deals on used items.

Sign Up for Consignment Stores

Check local online listings or ask around to see where there are consignment stores in your area, or children’s clothing stores. In major cities, there are often stores geared just towards families on a budget. Check Craigslist for garage sales or baby items. Just make sure to use all the precautions.

Swap and Shop

If you are part of a mom’s brigade, or have a network of young mothers in your social circle, then chances are they would love to swap clothes. You can network online using Facebook, Twitter, or your favorite social site, to find like-minded mothers who would rather get hand-me-downs than fork over cash for designer clothing that your little tykes will grow out of soon enough.

Kids love to imitate their favorite child celebrity. This can be a real one, such as Justin Beiber, Miley Cyrus or a favorite celebrity character, such as Harry Potter or one of the Star Wars characters. Halloween is usually the time when kids get to live out their fantasies. And, the abundance of kids costumes that are available makes it easy for them to do that.

The fact that most kids costumes, even celebrity ones, are usually very simple also make them very attractive for parents. For example, a pair of blue jeans and a shirt with Miley Cyrus’s picture on it, accessorized with a long blond or brown wig (depending on if your child is going as Miley or her alter ego Hannah Montana) and some long necklaces are all that are required for a Miley/Hannah costume. For Justin, the neat jeans and shirts that he wears, and the hair brushed forward to resemble his famous ‘do (with some temporary blonde hair color added if necessary) will work.

For other celebrity characters, such as Harry Potter or Star Wars characters, online kids costumes stores can sell complete outfits, including glasses, brooms and wands for Harry Potter and light sabers for Star Wars characters. By using online resources for your costume purchases, you save time and money because you don’t have to visit store after store trying to find the right costume and all the accessories.

Online Halloween costume stores usually sell kids costumes at a cheaper price, too. This also helps you save money on both fuel and the outfit itself. Purchasing kids costumes at online costume stores can be a tremendous asset for the reasons listed above as well as others. These include making it easier for busy parents, and purchasing costumes that may be of higher quality than those sold in regular stores.

There is only so much you can do inside during the winter before the kids get cabin fever – or you do. Don’t be afraid of wintertime fun just because you are worried that your baby will catch cold. As long as you have baby bundled up, you can have a great time in snow, rain, or whatever inclement weather comes your way. Here are some fashion tips for keeping them warm, from new or used clothes to look for, to unique do-it-yourself fashion sewing ideas.

Rain, Rain, Don’t Go Away!

If it’s rainy in your neck of the woods, make sure to outfit the little one with some sturdy rain boots. Most kids enjoy wearing rain boots, but it doesn’t hurt to buy a pair of brightly colored boots, or ones with polka dots or a fun print. There are also animal-themed rain boots available, such as yellow boots with a duck face printed on the bottom, or a dragon set with spikes on the back of the boots. Don’t be surprised if those rain boots are the only thing your child wants to wear – even when it’s sunny out!

Snow Angels

For your snow bunnies, make sure to bundle up with flannel-lined jeans, or snow pants with thermals underneath. Thick socks, mittens, and a hat are a must. Top off the outfit with a sweater and snow jacket. For infants and younger toddlers, fit them into a fleece coverall onesie as a first layer, then into a snowsuit; the little one will be warm even if you are out all day. A great gift might be to sew a matching set of mittens, scarf, and hat for your little one. Pick out your child’s favorite colors and a pattern, then head to the fabric store and get shopping. Go with microfiber, since it s easy to cut and sew, and it is thick and warm. You can stick with a solid color for all three fashion items, or try different color combinations. Make the scarf a little longer than is necessary; that way, your child can grow into it.

Cheesy noodles, gooey strawberries, peanut butter, and ketchup. These words can strike fear into a parent’s heart. Children have the uncanny ability to get food all over their hands, face, clothes, high chair, and anything within arm’s reach. Many parents have learned the hard way why it’s a bad idea to give your toddler a peanut butter sandwich and then let the child run free around the house. If you want to avoid having a fresh coat of peanut butter all over your living room, consider sitting baby down into a secure high chair, and fitting him with a baby bib. Plus, you can take a store-bought baby bib and spice it up with a personalized monogram, or sew your own, so that you can have some baby bibs that are in fashion.

Most parents are well aware of the benefits of baby bibs. Bibs are great because they can be put on and taken off easily, so baby won’t have a chance to fuss. Another reason why bibs are great is that they can be washed easily – just toss a few dirty bibs into the washing machine with your load of towels, and you are set. A good bib will help baby keep his clothes clean while he’s eating, too. Whether you have a tiny newborn or a toddler in his terrible twos, a baby bib is the way to go at breakfast, lunch, and dinnertime.

But baby bibs don’t have to be boring. It’s easy to dress up baby’s fashion with bibs that you have bought from the store. Just pick out some bright material from the fabric shop, cut out baby’s name, and sew it on to the front of the bib. You don’t even need a sewing machine; you can use a needle and thread and make broad stitches. Another toddler fashion option would be to take a plain cotton bib and get it screenprinted. There may be a screen print shop or photo shop near you that will print a photo onto nearly any material.

It is a treat to buy clothes for your newborn. When a newborn comes to your household, you will feel like showering him with the best of clothes available in the stores. However you should remember that there are chances that your newborn will receive a lot of clothes from your relatives and friends. So it is advisable to make a count of the number of clothes already available before making the purchase.

Parents should also remember a lot of other aspects before buying clothes for the newborn. A newborn will mature and grow quite fast. So the number of clothes being purchased for a newborn should be kept at a minimum. It is always intelligent to buy the number of clothes which can be actually used before the newborn grows up. Once he starts growing up all these clothes will become obsolete and will lie at some corner of the closet. Keep the number of purchases as little as possible.

Another important concern is the size which is offered by the manufacturers. The size generally differs from one manufacturer to another. Hence before making a purchase, check the item properly and do not only go by the size given in the tag. Pay attention to the fabric and design of the clothing. Some of the dresses may look adorable and beautiful, but make sure they are made of fabrics and have designs which will keep the newborn comfortable.

Try to avoid clothing which have small necks and have elastic in them. While buying sleepwear have a look at the label of the clothing and know whether it is flame-retardant. Since your newborn needs a lot of dresses make sure whether you will be able to hand-wash them or not. The clothes for newborns are very small and hence hand-wash is not that tough.

Going shopping and picking out baby clothes is one of the most fun things to do as a new mother. All babies need clothing and they make so many cute baby clothes now days that it’s impossible to resist the temptation. After all, they’re only little once, right? Right! Since they are only little once, it’s important that you make sure your precious babies are always dressed in style – the style you want them to be dressed in. Once they go to school (sometimes sooner) they get opinions and want to begin dressing themselves and picking out their own clothes. So, you better take advantage when they are little and buy the fashionable clothing you want them to wear.

Finding trendy clothing for babies can be hard to do when you don’t know where to shop. Knowing where to shop is critical if you want your little ones to be in style by wearing the hottest brands. The internet is a great way to find the coolest and most fashionable clothes for your babies. You can easily surf the net to find out what the latest trends are and where these designers sell their clothing. Not only can you see pictures of the baby clothing you’re interested in, but you can use the power of the Internet to find local retailers that carry the lines of clothing you’re looking for. If you are in the Canada area then you can search for brand name clothing line retailers through Canada 411.

Keeping your baby well-dressed isn’t something that’s just fun to do. It’s something you must do for your little one. Some of the various articles of clothing you will need include onesies, sleepers, dress clothes, everyday play clothes, jackets, coats, socks and accessories such as designer bows, shoes, belts and hats. Therefore, you need to make sure you are always in the loop and know where the best baby clothing stores are!

Fashion has become the order of the time. The aspect which was for a long time considered the domain of the rich and the famous is now become extremely common. People are increasingly becoming fashion conscious and are keeping track of what is happening in the fashion industry. Fashion is now not limited to the adults. There is a wide selection of clothes now available for even an infant of a few days.

Parents love to buy clothes for their kids in large numbers and in recent times options galore for them. However it is to be remembered that purchasing clothes for a kid is in no way similar to that of purchasing clothes for adults. We have to keep a lot of things in mind in order to make the purchase a viable one. Unlike adults, kids tend to grow at a rapid pace. Hence before buying clothes for kids we should consider this aspect.

The clothes available for kids look extremely cute with all the beautiful and vibrant colors and designs used. We feel like buying all the clothes which are available at the store. But behold, it is not such a good idea. While buying clothes for kids quantity should be the primary factor. Hence it is advisable to look for more number of clothes which will cost less. Kids tend to grow up every other day.

The shirt will was fitting him today may not fit him after a couple of months. So the longevity of the cloth should not be the primary factor while deciding on a clothing item for a kid. Secondly the comfort and safety of the kid is a big concern. Clothes which are made of soft materials and fabrics should be purchased which are apt for the tender baby skin. Kids tend to put everything in their mouth, so the clothes should be made of such materials which will not cause any harm to the children.

It is the joy and pleasure of every expectant mother to do some shopping for their soon arriving new member. For first time mothers, at first it will seem little difficult to make the list of necessary items and choose some extra fashions. Now, there are lots of reliable sources online that guides you through this dilemma, helping you to prepare a check list of items to buy when you go baby shopping.

With lots of new baby fashions and modern trends, you feel like buying and storing everything that your baby can use during his or her first year! The skin of new born is very soft and sensitive. This should be in your mind when you are selecting clothes and napkins for your special one. Receiving blankets and double receiving blankets can help you wrap your baby and make him or her cozy and comfortable, protecting them from the new atmosphere.

Cloth napkins are usually preferred to plastic diapers for new born. In either case, it should be used with proper care and cleanliness to avoid any skin allergies or infections to the baby. Body suits that cover the baby’s body fully can be chosen and socks and hand gloves are preferable in cold countries. Wet wipes and baby powder will help during changing diapers to clean and keep baby’s skin dry. Baby lotion can moisturize baby’s skin and soap or shampoo can be used for baby’s bath.

In countries where the climate is normally hot, baby will need bath in warm water twice daily and should get proper airing to make them feel cool. Some doctors do not recommend the use of powder, oil or lotion of any kind saying that it may cause problems to skin of baby due to the presence of chemicals. Still, it is up to the parents to decide what is best for their child.

The skin of baby is very soft and delicate, extremely sensitive to heat, cold, chemicals or wetness. Diaper rash is a very common problem faced by mothers at some stage of their baby’s growth. Even though cloth napkins are preferred for use in case of new born, mostly people find disposable plastic diapers easy, convenient and practical in their busy life.

It is fine to use diapers for baby if you know how to use them properly. Without the required care, use of diapers can cause skin irritation for your baby and lead to diaper rash, which is a very bad condition for a small baby. Diaper rash can be confirmed if you see red coloured skin rashes on baby’s genital area, sometimes swollen. It will be painful and irritating for baby and cause them to cry as they feel uncomfortable.

To avoid nappy rash, there are some tips that can be helpful especially for new mothers. Skin rashes are caused due to prolonged wetness near skin of baby. This should be avoided. A diaper should not be used for more than 3 to 4 hours, even if the company promises dryness for 6 hours and more. While changing diapers, the genital area of baby should be properly cleaned using wet wipes and baby powder should be applied.

This absorbs any wetness. Powder can also be applied on the inner part of diaper, so that dryness will be prolonged. If by some reason your baby gets a skin rash, there are ways to treat them. You should clean the area with warm water and after drying apply baby cream. Allow some air circulation and its better if you discontinue the immediate use of plastic diaper till it is completely cured. Great care and effort is needed to keep you little one happy and comfortable and it is a privilege to be parents.

Kids fashion is not something which remains unheard of in today’s world. As people are becoming more and more fashion conscious, fashion for kids is also being elevated to a distinct level. Parents are now ready to spend more money in order to give their little ones a fashionable look. However it is always a wise idea to shop intelligently for your kids. They tend to grow every other day, so while shopping for dresses this aspect should be always kept in mind.

It is advisable not to spend a fortune for buying clothes for your little one. The dresses and accessories meant for kids are the most charming. Hence you tend to purchase a lot of them together even if you did not intended doing that. One can follow certain tips in order to save money while buying clothes and accessories for kids. The first thing one can do is to buy an item which is a size above the required size.

It will make sure that the items are used for a longer time even if the kid grows at a rapid pace. Another thing which the parents can do is to buy a lot of clothing items and accessories when they on sale. The off season sale are a great opportunity to buy a lot of clothes at a much less cost. However you have to make sure that those clothes can be used during the required season even if your child grows taller.

Mix and match the clothing items and colors. You can buy certain common items in neutral colors and can mix and match them with some special clothing items. It will allow you to experiment with the clothes and also increase the number of clothes in the wardrobe. It is best to double the amount of tops as the bottoms as it will make for as many dresses as the number of tops.

Buying baby clothes for your little one can be a delightful experience. However, you should keep in mind that if style does not go with comfort, it is in vein. You should give top priority in her comfort for choosing any clothes for her. Her delicate skin may not endure the touch of any harsh synthetic substances that may apparently look gorgeous on her.

Her sensitive skin may have rashes on it, in case it comes in contact with synthetic fabrics. Next you should not buy clothing that has many buttons or fasteners. It will be comfortable both for you and your baby if her dress is easy to pull off. Soft cotton frocks and pull on pants will be ideal for a baby girl in the first few months. Then as she grows older, you can buy skirts and tops for her.

Next, you should buy clothes for her that are stretchable and flexible. There should not be any tightness due to elastics in the waist, ankles or sleeves. You should check this out to ensure the comfort of your baby, because, tight elastics may cut upon the delicate limb of your baby causing blood clotting and irritation on the skin.

Girls love patterns, especially flowing and floral patterns may make your girl look like a little princess. You can be puzzled to choose from the variety of styles, colours and designs available in the stores. Generally girls are fond of things such as birds, butterflies and the flowers.

If you have those pictures printed or embroidered on her skirt or top, she will like it. Dresses that have glittery ribbons, white laces and wonderful ruffles can look gorgeous on your little girl. All the shades of pink, blue and white will be marvelous for her.

The gradual up rise of fashion and modern trends in clothing not only has an impact on dressing patterns of adults, but has shown a great influence on the kids wear also. We always want to see our little prince or princess dressed up like kings and queens, looking super cute and adorable. Now, different clothing has come up, suitable for kids at all ages, from new born to teenage.

When we shop for baby, we always give first preference to cleanliness and comfort. The material of the cloth, its ease to wear and fitness is very important to reassure baby’s convenience. Usually, we see that cloth selection for girls is more than for boys, even though it is almost same in the case of new born, just the colour preference changing. As it is evident that almost everywhere around the world, pink is selected for girls and blue for boys.

The colour trend can also be considered as a new fashion craze. Earlier it was just cloth diapers, body suits, receiving blankets, socks, sleepers, etc. But today, there are designer clothes for babies too! Different designs, wide variety of bright colour combinations and funky fashions, make dressing your little one a joyful experience. Babies grow at an alarmingly fast rate during their first year, give your baby the best you can.

So, even if such fashionable clothing is bought by parents for parties or special occasions and photo sessions, it is always better to buy them in different sizes so that it can be used throughout baby’s first year. There is no compromise for the quality of baby accessories, and this has made shopping for baby somewhat expensive. Everyone wants to give the best for their cutie pies and are ready to spend any amount of money for the same.

Parents and kids have a lot on their plates these days. Kids feel enormous pressure from parents to do well in school and represent them well. They feel enormous pressure from their peers to keep up with the times and fit in. Parents, conversely, have a hard time teaching kids that it’s not about keeping up with the crowd, but rather it’s about being the best individuals they can be.

So when a person of influence with kids comes out and starts sending a message that parents can be proud of, it’s the perfect marriage of both agendas. Mark Ecko, founder of the amazingly successful and hip clothing company, Ecko Unlimited, recently did an OP-Ed piece on why bullying in schools and in neighborhoods needs to stop as well as the use of corporal punishment.

The issue of bullying has been around for decades, but recently it has started to make society more aware of the true damage that harsh words and actions are doing to children. It’s coming to the point where parents must monitor everything from their children’s internet usage to the texts they receive on their phones.

Ecko was speaking out against an issue that doesn’t get enough attention from high profile figures, especially those who work in an industry that kids pay so much attention to. A person who makes clothes that are hip and popular, but sends messages that are bold and important is the kind of leaders that parents should be promoting.

There is no way for Ecko’s message to touch an entire generation, but there is enough of a strong point of view to make those kids stand up and take notice. Even if just one kid can stop bullying, then the message was worth it. It’s not enough to have your product socially relevant. It’s important to be socially relevant. Mark Ecko is making waves and he’s making them in a profound way.

Having a sweet and cute little baby who looks like the parents is a wish of every couple. Enjoying parenthood is so refreshing and tension relieving, an experience that cannot be explained in words. There are a lot of responsibilities in parenting. A new born comes to this world completely dependent on others.

Timely food and sleep are the basic requirements of a new born, still making the baby feel warm and comfortable is also very important. To take care of all the needs of the new member of your family, there are certain things to know, so that you can handle your duties efficiently and make your little one smile always. Babies are usually very sensitive to temperature changes. Usually they cannot tolerate too much cold.

As they were very much protected by the required warmth in the womb of mother, they expect the same when they are outside too! To make your baby warm and comfortable proper baby clothes are to be chosen. Especially in cold countries, thick woolen cloth material is good. Sock, shawl and caps should be handy while going out of home and during traveling. Full body covering baby suits and blankets help to protect the baby from becoming too much cold.

Small baby hand gloves are also available, and should be used for baby, as the areas that become cold easily are hands and feet of babies. Too much of tight clothing can also make baby uncomfortable and decrease the mobility of their hands and legs. The material of baby clothes and accessories should be very well checked before buying because some types can cause skin irritations if they are not soft to the skin of baby. As the baby skin is so soft and sensitive, everything that you chose for your baby’s use should be gentle on them.

You want only the best for your child — and a promise was made long before he was born to offer him everything he could ever need. You researched all elements, seeking out the perfect toys, foods and nursery items. You gathered facts on first aid and discipline techniques. There was no detail that you forgot, no information that you didn’t glean. Everything was learned, you were certain. And, when a baby was finally brought home, you were filled to satisfaction.

That feeling shattered, however, when you realized your child was suffering from rashes.

There was a truth you overlooked (despite all of your impressive efforts) and your son is now burdened with eczema: you didn’t consider the possibility of allergic reactions. Clothing wasn’t thought to be a concern.

It is, however, and you must understand how this problem can form. It is the only way you can effectively counter it.

The most common causes for allergies are:

One: Detergents. A newborn’s skin is extremely sensitive; any trace of foreign substances can aggravate it. Flakes of soap that are left behind after washing can cling to a baby and cause irritation.

Two: Formaldehyde. Few recognize the presence of Formaldehyde. It’s assumed to be confined to laboratories. But residue of this chemical can be found on most garments (it’s used in the shipping process) and will cause reactions.

Three: Fabric. A synthetic fiber is often sought by parents, believed to be simple. But too often are these cloths the source of complications. They are soaked in dyes and other dangerous materials, leaving them unable to soothe. Organic styles are needed instead — look for cotton, hemp, bamboo or even silk.

You strive always to offer your child easy days. That can be made difficult, though, if he must endure constant allergies, the welts and blisters. Be aware what causes these worries and combat them through better choices and natural relief.

Perfection waits before you — an outfit of uncommon style, shaped to trendy colors and zipper lines. You reach for it, marveling at the quality of stitches, the care that was offered to make it unique. It’s an adult sensibility offered finally to babies; and you must have it (if only to prove to those other mothers at the park that your child is by far the most adorable. This outfit will emphasize every single grin, you’re certain). You quickly purchase it, take it home to offer to your daughter. She isn’t quite as impressed with it but you could never expect her to be: she’s a newborn, after all. She hasn’t yet learned the importance of fashion.

She has seemed to form an opinion on functionality, however.

Because, as you struggle with the outfit, fumble with the endless buttons and complicated fabric, your child begins to cry. She doesn’t approve of this style — and neither do you when you realize how much discomfort it’s causing.

It is all too tempting to take advantage of a newborn’s size, to dress her in clothes that are soaked to sweetness. Often, however, such sweetness is soured by hard zippers and snagging fasteners, elastic bands that cling. These provide no relief for any child. They instead only hurt.

It is important then that all parents understand the necessity of choosing clothes that soothe, rather than merely please aesthetically. All designs must be easy, able to be tugged on without hesitation. All unruly appliqués should be denied. And fabrics must be loose against the skin to avoid chaffing. The purpose is to select pieces that are soft and malleable, not simply attractive.

The desire to have a wardrobe of high fashion is understandable. It is best to wait, however, until your daughter is old enough to ask for this herself. Until then you must offer only comfort.

Refuse the stylish horrors and instead seek out function.

It’s a temptation too great to resist: you stand among the endless aisles, surrounded by sweet patterns and pastel hues. Fabric is stacked in easy piles, meant to be claimed by you — taken home to await the arrival of your newest family member. It’s mere weeks before a baby is due and you’re indulging in the simple thrill of shopping, choosing clothes that will suit a tiny frame (all decisions are colored neutral, of course. You’ve kept a gender secret, want instead to be surprised). You collect shirt after shirt, delighting in the small sizes. They’re too perfect to deny and soon you have enough to last a lifetime.

Unfortunately, however, that lifetime can be shortened to mere months.

A common mistake of choosing baby clothes is ignoring the natural progression of age. Expectant parents believe their children will remain forever young, able to fit always into the newborn styles. So they buy entire wardrobes, spending countless hours bounding from shop to shop. They become giddy with the notion of dressing their son or daughter in such adorable outfits.

The truth, however, is that most infants will outgrow those adorable outfits at a rapid pace — making every single one of them irrelevant within a matter of weeks.

It is necessary therefore that parents plan for the future instead of the present. While newborn styles are needed, the majority of clothing should instead be sized larger. Prepare for the inevitable growth, selecting pieces that can be worn later on. Fabrics that stretch (such as cotton) are recommended, as they can withstand sudden changes and will offer elasticity.

Never assume your child will retain their newborn shape (or that they will even be tiny enough at birth to fit into all of those clothes you’ve purchased). Plan instead for gains of weight and height. This will save you time, frustration and dollars — which allows you then to focus on your baby and not fashion.

It’s an all too common morning — you sit beside your son, trying to coax him to sample food from a jar. He’s not cooperating, though, is intent instead on staring at the ceiling and learning the patterns there. You persist, however. A spoon is placed carefully to a mouth; all tastes are promised to be delicious; and that seems finally to appease him. He takes a bite… and then promptly spits it out, leaving trails of wet apples down the front of his shirt.

You’re not surprised by this. You simply accept it. No one ever claimed, after all, that parenthood would be pristine.

But no one also warned you about the necessity of choosing natural fabrics — because, as you remove a shirt, you glance to the tag and scowl. It reveals fibers are not machine ready. They must instead be dry cleaned.

This… is not good.

Baby clothes are too often assumed to be accommodating, thought to work within the day to day obligations. There are many brands, however, that rely instead on dry cleaning or hand washing. And, when unsuspecting parents forget to check the labels, they may find themselves with pieces they can’t use and stains they can’t remove.

It’s vital therefore that all individuals remember the importance of wash and wear choices. Be certain a tag assures that cloth can be tossed into the machine, can withstand the power of bleach. If it requires more effort than that, it should be ignored (unless it’s meant only for special occasions and you can guarantee that it won’t suffer the usual accidents). Choose natural fabrics and avoid synthetic blends. Also refuse garments that don’t specify their care requirements. You don’t want to risk making a mistake and damaging the item later.

Too often are baby clothes believed to be easy. They can instead be challenging, though. You must then search carefully for the best choices and avoid the dreaded dry cleaning.

A soft cry, a sudden frown: your child is stirring in his crib, unable to sleep as he usually does. He’s discomforted, trying to escape an unseen complication. You quickly investigate — offering food, laughter, smiles. Nothing soothes, however. He merely continues to whine. And you are worried, wondering somehow if he’s ill. It’s the only explanation you can conjure. There should be nothing else to concern him, after all. He’s surrounded by his favorite toys, swaddled in his favorite outfit.

That… isn’t quite true, however.

Because it’s instead your favorite outfit for him and, out of curiosity, you begin to test it. Sleeves are checked; fabric is examined. It all seems perfectly normal… until you tug at a collar and discover splotches across a neck. Skin has been chafed, a tag curling harsh against it, rubbing it constantly.

And you realize what the problem truly is — sensitivity.

Too often is it assumed that newborns are identical to adults (simply sized tiny). They are believed to have the same adaptability as their parents. This is incorrect, however. Infant skin is instead tender, not yet used to the world; and it can become aggravated by the most meager of things: including clothing tags.

These can rub against a throat, causing symptoms that resemble eczema (rashes, mild blistering and itchiness). And, as a child continues to move, the scratching only increases — perpetuating the problem.

Parents must therefore seek clothing that is tagless. All information should instead be stamped to the back of the fabric, able to be read directly. This will ensure that there is no irritation and that a newborn won’t suffer sudden flares of sensitivity.

It should be noted that tagless outfits are not as common as they should be. You will have to search for them. But the effort is worthy of any time you spend trudging through the shops: because your child will be spared complications and can remain simply content.

It seems such a simple thing: a shirt is layered with false crystals, meant to offer style. You’re certain it will be perfect for your child, know the color will flatter for a special event. A birthday is approaching and you want her to look her best (even if you know she’ll be smeared in cake by the end of the day). So you offer it to her in the cart, watching as she seems fascinated by the shine.

That shine turns dangerous, however, as she manages to remove one of the jewels and tries to stuff it into her mouth.

You stop her just in time.

Baby clothes are often lamented as being plain. The use of embellishments is rare, with many fabrics straightforward (and dull) in their designs. The reason for this is not to deny your child the opportunity to accessorize, though — it’s instead to ensure that she doesn’t choke on an unexpected hazard.

Children are naturally curious. They learn through experimentation, not simple logic. All things must be experienced to be understood. And because of this no warnings will be heeded. Your words of the possible worries will be ignored, if only because they have no meaning. And all appliqué items will have to be touched and tasted.

It’s because of this that parents must be aware of the need to remove all temptation. Buttons that can be tugged away, zippers that can come undone, items that are held by a simple thread: these are all to be avoided. Newborns will try their best to undo the strings and eat the accessories — just because they can.

Choose garments instead that are free of any detachable products. Let patterns, texture and color be the only style you offer. Until your child is old enough to recognize the seriousness of your concerns, you must not provide them with the chance to disregard them.

Avoid those crystals for a little while longer.

It is the beginning of autumn — a season arrives slowly, offering a promise of temperate days and gray skies. You welcome this, were already tired of summer and its constant heat (it forced you too often to be inside, made you refuse all adventures). The world can finally be explored with no concern; and your child can rediscover the simple joys of playing in the park. There will be no worry for ultra violet rays and their potential to burn. It should instead be perfect.

And it is — until you realize that your baby’s wardrobe is woefully inadequate, offering only short sleeves and sandals. Such styles are fine for you but she’s shaking in her stroller. A mild day has proven to be too much for her. And you hurry back home, knowing the park will have to wait. It’s impossible now to seek.

Shifts in the weather are met with gratitude by you; but they can often become problematic for children. Babies — especially newborns — cannot withstand sudden changes in climate. Their bodies can’t yet regulate temperatures and this leads them to often be cold, especially when compared to their parents.

Layers are therefore essential to combat this.

For even casual outings, all children must be given extra fabric: jackets, sweaters, shirts, leggings and more are required. Provide pieces that can be removed as needed (should the degrees rise) but will still offer the necessary warmth. Refuse heavy garments as these, when used in excess, can cause a baby to become uncomfortable. Instead choose items that are made from thin natural fibers — cotton is ideal.

By doing this you will ensure that your child is shielded against the elements and can finally enjoy herself. There will be no worries of shivering. Instead a body will be properly protected — and this is essential in enabling outdoor exploration.

The season must be countered. Use layers to make this an easy thing.

You have come to a conclusion — life is difficult. Your days are a whirl of duties and laughter, meeting all of the demands of your family. Such demands were once easy, but they’ve been intensified by the arrival of a newborn. You’re devoting your time to ensuring her health and happiness; and it’s more of a challenge than you remember. There are no seconds to spare. There are no moments to simply relax. You are constantly changing strategies and opinions, planning only for the present (the future is too fickle. You can’t predict it).

And because of this you find so little energy to trudge to the store, to battle for a parking space and a cart. You don’t relish the idea of searching aisle after aisle, trying to find baby fashions that suit your needs — and your budget.

You don’t to.

When seeking clothes for your child you don’t have to resign yourself to the typical boutiques. You can instead remain at home (where you’re needed). You merely have to consider the alternative: online shopping.

Discover a world of infinite possibilities and instant convenience. When searching for fabrics, look to the Internet for all of your needs. Define your quest by style, designer, brand and price. Spend mere minutes at your desk, avoiding the crowds and their requests for sales. It becomes a simplicity you can’t — and shouldn’t — deny.

All parents should note, however, that finding the correct sizes may require a bit of guesswork. Sites may have different labeling systems or host unfamiliar styles. You may purchase an outfit, only to realize that it’s far too small for what you need. It’s necessary then that you shop only where exchanges are possible (and extra funds won’t be demanded for shipping).

There’s much to do and far too little time to accomplish it all. The Internet helps to lessen the burden, though, and spares you the tedium of traditional stores.

This is not your first child. You have been blessed instead with others, have experienced the joys — and confusions — of motherhood before. This time should be no different, you’re certain. The nursery is prepared; the many toys have been chosen. You’ve even managed to find that box of baby clothes you stored, are delighted to see that the fabrics are still preserved. They’ll offer easy solutions for when a newborn arrives, spare you from having to seek out fashions. Money can be saved, as well as time. This plan is wise, you’re sure.

It is also impossible.

Because the clothes you once chose were dedicated to sons — the masculine blues and greens. And your latest child is instead to be a girl. You somehow don’t think she would approve of the dark colors and sports patterns. You can’t use them. Instead you must replace the entire wardrobe; and this is an expense you were hoping to avoid.

You could have. You simply needed to prepare for function, not gender.

When seeking baby fashions it’s wise to understand the concept of passing down fabrics. Secondhand is not an insult to your child; there is nothing offensive about recycling items that are still perfectly wearable. There is, however, a flaw with this idea when those items are not unisexual.

The themes of gender are well defined. Certain colors and designs are linked to newborn boys or girls. When you choose these elements, you limit yourself for the future. Garments are trapped within their own intentions and can’t be traded freely among brothers and sisters.

It’s essential therefore that you purchase fabrics that can be offered to all children. Unisex styles provide patterns that can be used by any baby — and this allows you to then keep your dollars and avoid the hassles of shopping.

Purchase what can be used for the years (and children) to come. Ignore specificity for the ease of functionality.

You are panicked. This is an all too familiar emotion: it began the day you first introduced your newborn to the rest of your family. Every single hour has been met with worry — a feeling that has only increased since you have discovered the discoloration of skin, the inflammation. Your child is covered in rashes, splotched and spotted. It’s a rush then to the hospital, a call for care. You’re certain something terrible must have happened. It’s the only explanation for such a travesty.

There is, however, a less dramatic reason.

Your baby is simply allergic to his clothing — and this doesn’t require surgery or medication (even as you were ready to demand them). It instead means choosing better fabrics.

Newborns are not blessed with resiliency. That’s a trait that must be earned. Instead beneath their skin is a collection of easily disturbed nerves; and even the most common elements can cause irritation. Clothing is one such element. It is typical for children to experience allergic reactions to particular fibers (especially ones that are synthetic, as these tend to have higher percentages of chemical additives and dyes). Parents must therefore select items that offer no chance for aggravating skin.

Cotton is the best choice.

Providing undeniable comfort (as well as sustainability), cotton has been shown to be the most universal option for children. Its organic nature — which doesn’t demand strenuous manufacturer involvement — and breathability make it ideal for sensitive skin. It will not cause sudden flares of eczema or similar problems. It will instead offer no reactions at all; and this is vital in ensuring a newborn doesn’t have to suffer.

Selecting this kind clothing is a simple thing. The majority of styles contain some form of cotton (and blended designs are allowed, as long as this fiber still dominates). A quick search will reveal endless possibilities.

Allergic reactions are to be expected. They can also be combated, though, with cotton.
